"Battlefield 1" is a first-person shooter developed by DICE and published by Electronic Arts.

It portrays some of the events of World War I, known as "the war to end all wars." In this review, I will cover the main aspects of the game.

What are the main combat mechanics introduced in the game?

The main combat mechanics reflect the focus on trench warfare and the use of World War I armaments.

Key features include close-quarters combat, the use of historical weapons and vehicles, and dynamic environmental destruction.

How does Battlefield 1 portray World War I?

The game immerses players in the brutality and chaos of the conflict, capturing the authenticity of the settings and objects along with historical events, enhancing the immersion.

Is the campaign faithful to the historical events of the war?

The campaign is inspired by historical events of World War I but is not completely accurate in terms of historical precision.

DICE chose a cinematic approach to tell the war stories, blending reality and fiction to create an engaging and exciting experience.

How does the game utilize environmental destruction in gameplay?

Environmental destruction is interactive, creating a dynamic and realistic battlefield that directly influences gameplay and tactics.

For example, explosives and heavy vehicles can create breaches in walls or destroy fences, allowing new routes for attack or defense that did not exist before, altering the flow of combat.

Does the game feature any advanced graphical technology? How does this affect the experience?

Yes, it features several technologies, including advanced lighting and shadow effects, creating a realistic atmosphere.

Weather effects like fog, rain, and sandstorms directly impact gameplay, making visibility challenging for players.

What are the highlights in terms of sound design and soundtrack in the game?

The game offers a wide range of realistic sound effects, including weapon fire, explosions, and the sounds of vehicles and aircraft.

These sounds are designed to be authentic and distinct, helping players identify the type of weapon or threat location by sound alone.

The soundtrack complements the experience with epic and dramatic music, enhancing the sense of grandeur and despair with both dramatic and atmospheric themes.

Does Battlefield 1 support cross-play between platforms?

Currently, cross-play between platforms is not available. Players can only compete with others on the same platform, whether PC, PlayStation, or Xbox.

Does the game offer any customization for weapons or characters?

Yes, you can customize and modify your weapons with accessories such as scopes, grips, and muzzles.

These modifications can improve accuracy, stability, and overall weapon performance.

What are the main strengths and weaknesses of the game?

Here are some strengths and weaknesses of the game.

Strengths:

  • Fidelity to historical events
  • High graphical realism
  • Interaction with the environment

Weaknesses:

  • Poor performance
  • Some occasional bugs

How long does it take to complete the campaign?

According to How Long To Beat, it takes about six and a half hours to complete the main campaign and ten hours for the additional content.

I took around nine and a half hours to finish the game, with an hour and a half spent troubleshooting performance issues.

What expansions and DLCs are available for Battlefield 1?

The game features DLCs exclusively for multiplayer, excluding the single-player mode.

Notable expansions include "Battlefield 1 Apocalypse" and "Battlefield 1 In the Name of the Tsar," which introduce new maps for multiplayer.

Conclusion.

"Battlefield 1" is definitely an interesting game with its issues, but it compensates with its graphical quality and storytelling.

The campaign creates different "War Stories," placing players in various scenarios and situations, making them reflect on the constant danger faced by soldiers.

Although I played the campaign on PC/EA Store with some issues, my game experienced crashes and significant FPS drops during intense explosions, making those moments less enjoyable despite having robust hardware.

It's unclear if these were local issues or general problems with the game, but this is my experience for those considering buying the game for PC.
